About him
I live a simple quiet life in the countryside and always have. It is my good fortune not to have a complicated life nor relationship baggage in attendance. Therefore, I travel lightly through each day. A quiet diffidence continually impresses upon me that I have no great claim upon the world's stage so I walk through life without purchase. I have long since passed the first flush of youth which has been ruthlessly overrun by two parasites - fiery trial and tribulation. Consequently, the furrows of sixty plus years have become embossed and extemporised upon my soul thereby cultivating a higher form of love based on genuine sincerity. Appropriately enough, I possess no great worldly successes. Yet, perhaps the best and greatest among us are those who have (and do not) do themselves any worldly good - since every successful man is perhaps more or less a selfish man. Instead, I have a way of curtailing my dimensions by my manner of showing them for what they really are - parochial and played out in a minor key. As a parochial man a self-portrait may be prudent here: "There was in his face that hopelessness of being understood which comes when the objector is constitutionally beyond the reach of a logic that, even under favouring conditions, is almost too coarse a vehicle for the subtlety of the argument." (Hardy, Thomas. The Return of the Native).
If it is of any interest I hold a PhD in German History of Art and Philosophy. My speciality being the philosophy of aesthetics wherein I am a published academic author. I absolutely love history and the act of writing. So if you love history, the quiet country life, are literate and sober, classical music and could accommodate my idiosyncrasies then you might be my type. Ultimately, I am a very deep thinker and an aesthete seeking poetry and beauty wherever I can find it - my natural game. I am not and never have been one of the herd nor do I share the herd instinct.
About his ideal match
The below is what I hope you aspire to no matter how often you fail. Be of good cheer since it is the touch of the imperfect upon the would-be perfect that gives the sweetness to the aspiration. It is that imperfection which unveils your humanity. Such imperfection ought to spur the sides of intent onward and upward.
At the top then a good heart whose Alpha and Omega is love. Second to top very slender. Circa 48 55 /kg max. A size 6 - there or thereabouts - are essential criteria. One from the political right and well bred.
My match would be a person who is patient and kind. One who is not self-seeking, not easily angered (because I am moody), and does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. A child amongst pleasures and a woman amongst pains is the rough outline of my requirement.
My mis-match? Well, I am disenchanted by those women with a fetish for exotic peregrinations, adventures, sybaritic hedonism and a barely concealed desire to obtain an embodied boarding pass into the aforementioned pastimes. These conspicuous consumptions are so passé ladies, so trite and commonplace that they have become a monotonous average. Nor do I appreciate the alienating radiance of an assumed feminine superiority. Quel spectacle de clichés. Yawn.
Before the curtain falls I confess that I am somewhat tempered by circumspection as I venture into this world of digital communication. By necessity I retain that essential fear of the fledgling lark nesting in his corner of the field - the fear of the sharp plough of a maladroit destiny - despite the mute procession of fair ladies laid out before me here. This trepidation is no doubt common enough amongst the thoughtful who have endured poverty and oppression. On this basis "My poverty, but not my will, consents" to this world of digital communication. (Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet. Act 5. Scene 1.79).
