About him
Just arrived at 60, so with a busy, full, and fun life so far, looking for what may be around the next corner. Avoiding clichés here is the aim, but I do appreciate the simple pleasures, great food, theatre and cinema, and being outside, in the garden, by any water, and especially by the sea.
My friends I think would describe me as warm, reliable, intelligent, good fun, active, and quietly adventurous. I have a passion for food and drink, so enjoy cooking for other people, and the conversation that goes with them. Luckily, I also work part time in food and drinks retail, so I’m always learning about new things. Done an OU course in writing, and I’ve started my first novel—a fictional memoir-style story about people and relationships.
Much of the first 60 or so involved playing sport, so reasonably fit. Did the London Marathon, and the Three Peaks, and a parachute jump, all for charity of course. Mostly now its golf, and love walks, long or short.
Did a years voluntary work in Ghana, West Africa, teaches one to appreciate more the things we have, than crave those we don't.
My friends might include Artistic in their summary, along with intelligent, relaxed, genuine, thoughtful, engaging, and amusing company to be with.. (but they are clichés!)
Nowadays I like Painting—mostly Acrylics: places, landscapes and seascapes, for pleasure, friends, and family, all of which are important to me.
My radio pre-sets are Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, and BBC World Service. I find the News is sometimes too depressing at the moment, but I do like Podcasts on History, Art, Culture, anything unusual I didn't know, and Comedy. Laughing is important, whatever you are doing, there is something funny in it somewhere, even a dating website :-)
