About him
I adore good conversation about anything - feel more comfortable at home - love theatre - cinema - books and looking after myself. Coffee is a major part of my day - no two days the same as it should be - I am a good listener - attentive - good cook - shy to strangers - keep myself to myself - neither coarse nor bombastic - modest and virtuous - I do believe that what defines you is not what happens to you but how you respond to it. I was disabled in a bike smash forty odd years ago and I have damaged nerves in my back which makes walking difficult some days. But I ride again. I was called to the Bar as a second career, disabled out of the first one. I made lemonade with the lemons life gave me. I will give up booze for January and get fit.
I tried one site last year with mixed fortunes, but I saw the funny side of it when asked if I would move from Cambs to South London before I’d met her. No I won’t. I have my own plans and friends and I will disappear for a month to Athens early September now booked, in Kypseli, such a vibrant district. I love the place. I was originally trained as a chef but went into law instead, first as a cop in central London for 10 years then as above. I retired aged 59 - had enough. I enjoy the freedoms I have and prize my “me time” so please don’t think me moody or distant or not interested, these fallacies grow with insecurities that I don’t have. Respect and trust for each other should form the fundamental basis of any relationship, and in my humble a relationship is not formed by reporting in daily at set times - let things grow is my preferred method. My comedy heroes include Groucho Marx (I’ve had a perfectly wonderful evening but this wasn’t it). Terry Wogan The Janet and John Stories (The Dog Show). Bob Newhart the Bus Driver. An interesting person whose focus is on living here and now - with a great sense of humour able to laugh at the world and remain grounded - without drama - more cosy pub fireside than noisy bars - less of a Mall shopper and more of a looking at the sea person. I’m a passionate person and I expect the same but I have no preset concepts of what I am looking for and eschew the fashions and immediacy of today’s culture of fame and looks. I do not do social media at all. A phone is all I need and this contraption to impart ideas that sometimes form naturally and sometimes not - quiet times - but I do believe that any new lady I meet should want me to take up my pen and write poetry again.
